A Riverside County teenager attempted suicide Wednesday after she leaped
off a fence onto the shoulder of the Costa Mesa Freeway.
The 15-year-old girl injured her back and was taken to Santa Ana’s
Western Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.
Authorities did not release her name, but said the girl lived in a group
home in Murrieta.
Witnesses saw the teenager climb the chain-link fence around 11 a.m. at
Newport Boulevard and 21st Street.
The victim told police she was distraught about being raped, which she
said occurred Tuesday in Westminster, authorities said.
The Westminster Police Department is investigating the sexual assault
allegations and did not return phone calls about the incident.
