Retail Roundup

We are thrilled to note that the BOSS Hugo Boss store in South Coast

Plaza will be holding a grand reopening June 22. Retail Roundup isn’t

sure why the word “boss” occurs twice in the title of the store, but

perhaps this is one of those fashion mysteries, like the tube top, that

are best left unconsidered.

WE WISH WE WERE YOU

In other “party we won’t be going to” news, the Costa Mesa-based company

SYNGE.com is throwing a “star-studded” bash tonight at the Paramount

Pictures studio in Los Angeles. The event celebrates SYNGE.com’s West

Coast launch.

The company promises that its soiree will include “drag queen models,

Internet moguls [and] the SYNGE.com anti-establishment staff.”

Drag queens o7 andf7 Internet moguls? Does it get any more sublime?

Does it get any more “anti-establishment”?

We think not.

IN WHICH WE ARE GAUCHE...

An event that will be held in July at The Sutton Place Hotel has us

drooling weeks in advance.

We’re talking about the Grgich Hills Cellars dinner (yes, that’s spelled

correctly) that will feature red beet risotto, foie gras, buffalo

tenderloin and something called fig aumoniere.

Geez.

We don’t even know what fig aumoniere is, but we want to eat it.

You can have our serving of the buffalo, though. Retail Roundup may be

horribly gauche, but even we have our limits...
