FOUNTAIN VALLEY -- After 10 years, the time capsule at Fountain Valley
Elementary School is schedule to be opened Saturday.
Students, parents and staff placed memorabilia in a small fireproof safe
when the school closed a decade ago. The capsule was buried in a rose
garden behind a white fence on the campus.
Each of the school’s last classes put something in the capsule. Many of
the students, who are now between 15 and 21 years old, will return for
the opening, officials said. Former students, teachers, principals and
superintendents are looking forward to the event.
“No one really remembers what’s in there,” said Larry Crandall, a
Fountain Valley councilman who is organizing the event.
The opening will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at 17911 Bushard St.
Anyone interested in volunteering can call Larry or Sandra Crandall at
(714) 962-0512.
