Herrera delivers for Rangers

Josh Herrera capped a big day Tuesday by driving in the tying and

winning runs on a double in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift the

Rangers to a 6-5 decision over the Cardinals in Huntington Valley Little

League Minor A Division play.

The game-winning hit was the second double of the day for Herrera, who

finished the game 3 for 3 with three RBI.

The Rangers also were powered by Daniel Sanchez and Alex Holtz, each of

whom went 3 for 3 with a double, Adrian Sanchez, who finished 3 for 3,

Chris Ottens at 2 for 4, and Jeremy Sullivan with a double.

Herrera’s heroics overshadowed a fine hitting performance by the

Cardinals’ Sam Olive, who hit two home runs, which accounted for three of

his team’s runs.

Nick Becker also went 2 for 3 for the Cardinals.

Mets 16, Yankees 1

Pablo McBeth went 2 for 3 with a triple and four RBI, Timmy Higgins went

2 for 3 wit ha double and two RBI, Kyle Ammons went 3 for 3 with a pair

of RBI, Chase Barnes had two hits and an RBI, Alex Barnes singled with

two RBI, and Race Parmenter added an RBI for the Mets; Shay Skutvik had

an RBI single for the Yankees.

Indians 7, Marlins 0

Clayton Prestridge went 3 for 3, Michael Bogard had two hits, and Cody

Moran doubled for the Indians; the Marlins’ only hit was a single by

Johnny Thomas.

MINOR B DIVISION

Cubs 19, Diamondbacks 9

A four run deficit couldn’t derail the undefeated Cubs, who battled back

for the win as Daniel Tierney went 3 for 3, Nick Mazzone had two hits and

also had a two-RBI sacrifice, and Brian Schwartz had a two-RBI double.

Trevor Springman belted a grand slam home run and an RBI double, Andrew

McFall was perfect at 4 for 4, and Travis Hanley picked up two hits for

the D-backs.

Marlins 9, White Sox 4

Alexander Strada doubled and Barry Luke, Stuart Chenier, Michael Chairez,

Jullien Herrera, Jimmy Miller, and Rob Toth each delivered key singles

for the Marlins; Kevin Stickler, Jeremy Carrillo, and Dallas Scott each

singled for the Sox.

Dodgers 10, Yankees 3

Tanner Sierra went 2 for 2 to lead the Dodgers; Drew Baumann doubled for

the Yankees.
