Diamond Demons beat Heartbreakers, 7-1

A five-run first inning got the Diamond Demons off and running

against the Heartbreakers over the holiday weekend, and the quick start

resulted in a 7-1 victory in South Huntington Beach Fastpitch girls 8 and

Under Division action at Edison Field.

Leadoff hitter Caroline Gergen, Candice Raab, Rebecca Kendrick, Rachel

Pasternak, and Patty Keleher all collected singled in the inning, but it

was Tina Griffin’s two-RBI single up the middle that was the big hit in

the top of the frame.

Molly Bergdahl singled home the fifth run of the inning.

Emily Hyams closed out the scoring for the Diamond Demons in the seventh

inning when her single scored Stephanie Engle, who tripled to

left-centerfield.

Allison Hensely turned in an unassisted double play for the

Heartbreakers.
