SHE IS
The archrival of disorganization
THE ODD GIFT
Penny Lambright has a title that most perceive as unusual --
clutterologist. Basically, she organizes things for people.
Growing up the youngest in a family with five children, Lambright was
always been around commotion. So at an early age, she realized her
penchant to take control of matters and began realigning her world to
become more harmonious. Misplaced clothing, evasive toys and any other
kind of mess was the training ground she used for honing her skills.
“I definitely was never taught how to do this,” the 37-year-old said.
“It’s a special gift I have that I’ve been developing for a long time.”
WHAT CLUTTER OFFENDERS NEED
Lambright serves people in a multitude of ways. Quite often, the outcome
of her efforts are more comparable to that of a cognitive behavior
therapist, as opposed to somebody who just arranges people’s stuff.
“The trick to managing your clutter is being accountable for your own
mess,” said the self-employed Huntington Beach resident.
In fact, her ability to manage is the secret to what she does. Teaching
people to create a system of action that works according to their
environment and circumstances is a major part of the process, she said.
But it’s Lambright’s unique perspective that is the tool she relies upon
most. Lambright is able to assess the damage in any given area, come up
with an idea to handle it, then motivate and teach the clutter culprit to
adjust their behavior permanently.
“If I have to come back, then I haven’t succeeded with that project.”
GRATITUDE
A woman that is grateful for her talent, Lambright is the problem-solver
many are relieved to see when stricken with a bout of “the clutters.” And
it is quite obvious that Lambright continues to develop her talent
because she loves being able to help people who, in these hectic times,
give precedence to their families and careers.
Lambright explains “my job is not to get rid of everything ... it’s to
introduce comfort and decrease stress.”
