Softball: Late rally hurts CdM
CORONA DEL MAR - Corona del Mar High’s softball team engaged
visiting Northwood and its ace Allyson Lewis in a pitcher’s duel for four
innings Tuesday afternoon.
But clutch Northwood hits and CdM errors led to a seven-run explosion as
the Timberwolves won, 7-0, in a Pacific Coast League game.
Baffling CdM with a riser, Lewis struck out 17 Sea Kings (6-9, 3-4 in
league). CdM pitcher Alissa Zoelle had seven strikeouts and kept the Sea
Kings afloat early on. Zoelle and Meaghan Bunney had the only two hits
for CdM. Northwood remains undefeated in the PCL at 7-0.
