COSTA MESA - Orange Coast College was a 3-1 loser in Orange Empire

Kemp took a one-hitter into the ninth inning en route to a three-hit 3-1

victory over the Pirates.

The Pirates spoiled Kemp’s shutout bid with an unearned run with two outs

in the ninth, but that was about the only consolation for Coast, which

dropped to 17-22, 7-14 in the OEC.

Jamie Brown pitched well for the Pirates, going the distance, allowing

eight hits and one earned run.

Saddleback improved to 21-18, 8-15.
