Holiday revelers driving through Costa Mesa will encounter a sobriety
checkpoint Friday night on 17th Street.
The Costa Mesa Police Department will be stopping motorists driving
eastbound on 17th Street at Westminster Avenue between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m.
The department is making an extra effort to prevent any holiday disasters
involving people driving under the influence.
Police are on the lookout for motorists who risk their lives -- and
others’ -- when drinking and driving. Police also see an increase in
alcohol-related arrests during the holiday season.
All drivers determined to be under the influence of an intoxicant will be
arrested and jailed.
