The Fountain Valley School District board of trustees named Stephen L.
McMahon as its new Assistant Supt. for Business at Tuesday’s meeting.
McMahon is filling the position vacated by Paul Burkhart, who took a
position with to the Anaheim City School District.
McMahon began his career in education as a teacher in 1974, and most
recently worked in the business department in the Fort Bragg Unified
School district in Northern California.
McMahon said proximity to his family in southern California was one of
the prime reasons for returning to the area. He also cited the district’s
positive reputation.
In other news, the board approved an application for funding for the
English Language Acquisition Program for fiscal year 1999-2000.
Districts that participate in the program will receive funding in the
spring of 2000 based on $100 for each English language learner in grades
four through eight.
District officials said they could expect $21,700 from the program for
the next fiscal year.
