Chargers’ Nehrig named Sunset League’s MVP

Senior Emily Nehrig of Sunset League girls’ field hockey champion
Edison High was named recently by Sunset League coaches as the league’s
Most Valuable Player.
Also garnering one of the league’s top honors was Marina senior Melissa
White, who was named Most Valuable Goalie.
Fourteen players were named First Team, while 16 players made the Second
Team list.
The Sunset League field hockey circuit is comprised of Edison, Marina,
Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, Newport Harbor, Westminster, Santa
Ana, Glendora, Santiago, Harvard/Westlake, and Bonita.
Below is a list of the players from the local schools who made the 1999
All-Sunset League girls field hockey team:
FIRST TEAM
Edison: Cathryn Perkins, Sr.; Carolyn Corbett, Sr.
Marina: Katy Jones, Sr.; Heather Kindschi, Soph.
Huntington Beach: Heather Cowie, Sr.; Alishca Santiago, Soph.
SECOND TEAM:
Edison: Nicole Harrison, Jr.; Haleh Khosrowpour, Jr.
Marina: Rachel Benniger, Soph.; Melissa Shuck, Jr.
Huntington Beach: Jessica Condor, Jr.; Kelly Kedis, Soph.
Fountain Valley: Julie Lloyd, Jr.
