NMJAAF: Shorthanded Midget Seahawks fall to Garden Grove

GARDEN GROVE - After a shorthanded first half, the Newport-Mesa
Junior All-American Football Midget Seahawks lost to the Garden Grove
Panthers, 31-6, in the AFL Championship Saturday.
With the Seahawks’ head coach and three key players stranded on the
freeway with a disabled vehicle, Garden Grove took advantage and scored
24 first-half points.
In the second half, with a full squad, the Seahawks limited the
Panthers to seven points, while scoring their lone touchdown of the game.
Matt Encinias found Cole Edwards for the Seahawks’ touchdown. The
touchdown was made possible after Brian Campos’ 30-yard reception that
put the Seahawks in scoring range.
Other key contributors to the Seahawks’ play were Jun Azurin, Joevanny
Cueva, Luis Gudino, Eric Curtis, Sam Matlin, Brian Wase, Zach Wishengrad,
Jon McClain, Alan Pineda, Travis Winrow, Tim McCullough, Chris Channing,
Sylvester Langrine, Luis Gonzales, R.J. Marin and Mike Puentes.
