Newport edges Coronado

CORONADO - Newport Harbor High junior Peter Belden scored with

seven seconds left in the second overtime period to force sudden death,

then converted a penalty shot to propel visiting Newport Harbor to an 8-7

nonleague boys water polo road win Saturday.

Belden finished with four goals, two assists and four steals, while

senior Robert Weiner, who drew the ejection to set up the game-winner,

had two goals and a steal.

Senior goalie Tim Birdsong had 15 saves for the Sailors (2-0).
