Authorities investigate after man’s body is found near Laguna Beach

Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found Monday evening in brush off Laguna Canyon Road.

Investigators were unable to make a preliminary determination of the cause of death due to the body’s state of decomposition and environmental exposure, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The man, of unknown age, has not yet been identified, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Laguna Beach police responded to a report of the body in the area of Laguna Canyon Road and Woodland Drive at about 6 p.m. Monday.

Once there, they determined the area was unincorporated county land and handed off the case to the Sheriff’s Department.
