Costa Mesa police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a driver involved in a hit-and-run that left a bicyclist injured Tuesday morning, authorities said.
Officers and Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue crews were called to Bristol Street and Red Hill Avenue at about 8:20 a.m. in response to a report of a hit-and-run, police said.
The caller who reported the incident stayed with the cyclist, a 56-year-old man, who was in the roadway when authorities arrived.
The man suffered a compound ankle fracture and was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.
Authorities suspect a newer-model black Mercedes-Benz SLK300 or SLK350 seen in security footage from a nearby gas station was involved in the incident.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call traffic investigator Darren Wood at (714) 754-5264.
