A Huntington Beach hazardous-materials team treated a person Friday who was injured while trying to clear a clogged drain.
Fire Department officials received a call around 7:30 a.m. of a hazardous-materials incident in the 8200 block of Noelle Drive, according to a news release.
They treated a person who had suffered minor injuries from vapors that occurred while mixing two chemicals in the household sink in an attempt to unclog the drain, said fire Capt. Eric McCoy.
The person was taken to an area hospital for evaluation, officials said.
“Mixing common household chemicals and cleaning products can cause serious injuries,” the Fire Department said in a statement. “Be sure to always read the product labels before using household or commercial cleaning products.”
