Pedestrian in critical condition after being hit by car in Costa Mesa

A 22-year-old man was taken to a hospital in critical condition after being hit by a car in Costa Mesa early Friday, police said.

Costa Mesa police responded to a report of the crash at Pinecreek Drive and Adams Avenue at about 12:30 a.m., said Sgt. Jason Chamness.

Chamness said the man was in the roadway when he was struck by the car. It isn’t clear exactly where he was walking or how the crash occurred.

The driver of the vehicle cooperated with authorities and was not arrested, Chamness said.
