City crew members discovered the body of a man near Hamilton Community Garden in Costa Mesa on Tuesday morning, authorities said.
About 7:40 a.m., police were notified of a possible dead body near the garden, at Hamilton and Charle streets, said Lt. Bryan Glass.
Paramedics determined at the scene that the unidentified man, possibly in his early 50s, was dead.
No unusual circumstances or suspicious activity is suspected, Glass said.
The matter has been referred to the Orange County coroner’s office, which as of Wednesday afternoon had not identified the man, pending an ongoing effort to notify his next of kin.
The office said the man was “a local transient” and his death, at approximately 11 p.m. Monday, appeared to be of natural causes, though an autopsy is pending.
