An Irvine woman was sentenced Friday to a year in jail, five years probation and drug treatment for six arson-related felonies, authorities said.
Jana Spires, 39, pleaded guilty in Newport Beach’s Harbor Justice Center to arson and setting properties not owned by her on fire, according to a news release by the Orange County district attorney’s office.
Spires started several fires between January and May of this year. Her targets included a playground, an apartment complex and homes, the release said.
In one case, she used pizza boxes to start a fire at Springbrook Elementary School in Irvine.
