Montage tree lights up the night

Montage Laguna Beach’s annual tree-lighting ceremony Monday night drew 4,500 holiday revelers, who were invited to enjoy appetizers, cocktails, carolers, live music and bubbles meant to emulate falling snow.
The 55-foot white fir, grown near Mt. Shasta in Lassen County, was decorated with more than 30,000 lights.
Twenty-five young white firs were planted in the Mt. Shasta area after the Montage tree was harvested, the hotel’s public relations director, Kacey Spies-Bruno, wrote in an email.
After the holiday season, the Montage tree will be recycled into garden mulch.
