Old Glory Boat Parade lets freedom ring over Newport Harbor for Independence Day

Newport Harbor was bathed in red, white and blue this weekend as the Old Glory Boat Parade set sail to celebrate the Fourth of July.
More than 50 boats were on the water, decked in patriotic memorabilia, to honor this year’s theme, “Let Freedom Ring,” which American Legion Yacht Club Commodore Bruce Batcheller has said is emblematic of both Independence Day and the state’s reemergence from the pandemic.
Retired National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster was parade grand marshal. Prior to working in the Trump administration, McMaster served as a lieutenant Army general.
Last year’s theme was “Honoring Our Frontline Heroes.”
The parade circles Newport Harbor and is held every Fourth of July.
