Thousands of people are expected to descend on Huntington Beach this weekend, as the city holds a festival at Pier Plaza for the Fourth of July holiday.
Mayor Kim Carr cut the ribbon at a ceremony kicking off the festival Friday morning. The festival features booths, food trucks as well as a new beer and wine garden.
Additionally, there are carnival rides, including a large Ferris wheel. Live music will be performed throughout each day of the weekend.
The city’s home decorating contest winners are scheduled to be announced on-site on Saturday at 10 a.m. Then, at 6 p.m., Sunday’s car parade route is scheduled to be revealed.
The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Independence Day. The weekend concludes with a 26-minute fireworks display set to start at about 9 p.m.
