One person was killed when a car crashed into a commercial building in Newport Beach and burst into flames, authorities said Monday.
The crash was reported at 10:55 p.m. Sunday at West Coast Highway and 61st Street, an area with a “dramatic curve,” according to Newport Beach police Sgt. Bryan Gregson.
The car was traveling west at the time of the crash, Gregson said.
A body was found in the remains of the vehicle, Gregson said. The victim’s age and gender were unavailable, he said.
Westbound lanes of the highway were temporarily closed in the area for authorities to investigate the crash.
