The city of Huntington Beach and local American Legion Post 133 teamed up Monday to mark Veterans Day with a ceremony at Pier Plaza.
The event included remarks from Huntington Beach Mayor Erik Peterson and Capt. Jason Sherman of the Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, who gave the keynote address.
The Huntington Beach High School band performed and the American Legion’s honor guard fired a three-volley rifle salute during the ceremony.
The Veterans Day commemoration continued with a car show featuring hundreds of classic and custom vehicles, collector cars and motorcycles in the parking lot at Huntington City Beach.
The free annual event also featured vendors and entertainment, including performances by local bands.
The registration fees paid for participating vehicles will go to support special veterans programs and are donated to local nonprofits, according to event organizers.
