Candidates announced for Sunset Beach Community Assn.

The Sunset Beach Community Assn., which has served for years as Sunset Beach’s de facto governing board, has announced its candidates for this year’s election.
Scot Dodson, Rooney Daschbach, Michael Lyon, Caroline Caslin, Larry Crandall, Anthony Nobles and Debbie Culling have entered the running, according to Phyllis Maywhort, chair of the association’s nominating committee.
Crandall is not the Fountain Valley councilman of the same name.
All candidates are running to be board members and will serve two-year terms if elected. The association will continue to handle community issues and sponsor events even after Sunset Beach’s annexation by Huntington Beach earlier this year, Maywhort said.
The group, though, will coordinate with the Huntington Beach City Council rather than the Orange County Board of Supervisors.
The ballots were mailed out at the end of October and must be received by Nov. 30, with the winners to be announced at the association’s Dec. 8 meeting. All people who are registered to vote and who live in the boundaries of Sunset Beach, as defined before annexation, are eligible to participate.
