Selena Gómez, quien alguna vez fue la persona más seguida en Instagram y que aún se encuentra entre las tres primeras, cree que las redes sociales han sido terribles para su generación.
La joven de 26 años habló con franqueza sobre lo que considera como una amenaza moderna, este miércoles durante una conferencia de prensa en el 72º Festival de Cine de Cannes, donde promocionó la comedia de terror “The Dead Don’t Die” de Jim Jarmusch. La película también está protagonizada por Bill Murray, Chloe Sevigny, Adam Driver y Tilda Swinton.
Gómez, sentada entre Swinton y Murray, tomó las riendas de la conversación cuando se centró en los peligros contemporáneos que más preocupan al elenco y al equipo.

“Creo que nuestro mundo está pasando por muchas dificultades. Yo diría que para mi generación, específicamente - lo que Jim señaló en la película - es que las redes sociales han sido realmente terribles para mi generación”, dijo la actriz y cantante.
“Entiendo que es increíble usar las plataformas. Pero me asusta ver lo expuestas que están estas chicas y estos chicos. En realidad no están al tanto de las noticias ni de nada de lo que está pasando”, agregó. “Creo que es peligroso. No creo que la gente esté recibiendo la información correcta”.
La cantante de “Back to You” dijo que creía que era imposible garantizar la seguridad en los medios de comunicación social en este momento: “no hay nada que bloquee. Se exponen a todo de manera inmediata”.
Y aunque está agradecida por tener la plataforma y ha acumulado 150 millones de seguidores en Instagram (anteriormente también tenía la foto más gustada en esa aplicación), Gómez dice que ha sido mucho más consciente de lo que publica y por qué. Evita compartir “imágenes sin sentido” y pretende “ser más intencional con ellas”.
“Me asusta, eso es todo. Veo a estas jovencitas en los encuentros y saludos. Están devastados, lidiando con la intimidación y sin poder tener su propia voz”, explicó.
“Quiero decir, que puede ser grandioso en momentos, pero yo tendría cuidado y límites de tiempo de cuando usarlo”.
