Arts center, Stone Brewing pair up for comic art event

The California Center for the Arts, Escondido, is pairing comics and craft beer Saturday night for a special museum event.

“Art Illustrated with The Stone Brewing Co.” will be from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Center Museum, 340 N. Escondido Blvd. Tickets are $45, which includes food and beer pairings, and museum admission. The museum’s current exhibit is “Art Illustrated: Celebrating Comic Art,” featuring nearly 300 pieces of comic strip and comic book art.

Additional artwork from Stone will be on display, including designs over the years of the Escondido-based brewery’s signature gargoyles. Featured guests and speakers include Stone CEO and co-founder Greg Koch; “Luann” creator Greg Evans; Tom Matthews, the original creator of the Stone Brewing Co. gargoyle; Stone graphic artists Edson Ruiz, Jeff Perkin and Aaron Rocha; and Stone community relations manager Chris Cochran.
