Reporting from Las Vegas — Former talk show host Oprah Winfrey brought six students from her South African school to Las Vegas on Saturday to celebrate a student’s 21st birthday.
Winfrey and her entourage of students from the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation first stopped by Mandalay Bay to see “Michael Jackson One” by Cirque du Soleil. Winfrey and the girls danced in their seats during the tribute to the King of Pop.
After the show, Winfrey and the students went backstage, where the cast shouted, “Happy birthday.”
Winfrey called the performance “… the best show I’ve ever seen,” and said, “I’ve never seen anything like that before.” She raved about the hologram of Jackson during “Man in the Mirror.”
Later, she took the students to the Bellagio to watch Cirque du Soleil’s water show, “O.”
Afterward, she stopped by Fix Restaurant & Bar for cocktails with the group.
