Reporting from Las Vegas — If you’re going to call it the fight of the century, then have some spectacle to go with it. Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. arrives at the MGM Grand Garden Arena for his fight against Manny Pacquiao on Tuesday, April 28, with a star-studded event that’s open to the public.
Tickets to the fight itself on Saturday, May 2, are already sold out, but this is one event that all fans can see.
The pageantry starts with entertainers such as rapper and human beat box Doug E Fresh, standup comedian Rickey Smiley and the Southern University “Human Jukebox” marching band performing at 2 p.m.
Then the grand arrival, when undercard boxer Leo Santa Cruz, the Mexican undefeated WBC Super Bantamweight champion, arrives first, followed by Mayweather Jr. at 3 p.m.
Doors open at 1 p.m. for the 16,800-seat arena at the back of the MGM Grand. The event is free and open to the public.
