Penn & Teller, Chippendales help Vegas’ Rio celebrate 25th birthday
Guests can get up close and personal with the Chippendales and enjoy a toast with Penn & Teller as the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino turns 25 this week. Best of all, it’s free.
The silver anniversary party runs from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday high above Las Vegas in the resort’s VooDoo Rooftop Lounge.
Members of the Chippendales, the hotel’s male revue, will be on hand to pose with guests for photos. Longtime Rio headliners Penn & Teller will lead a Champagne toast. Cake will also be served.
Free admission to the two-story nightclub atop the resort’s Masquerade Tower will be offered Wednesday and Saturday.
The weekend celebration includes $25 Witch Doctor cocktails. The potent potion, which is served in a 44-ounce glass, is made with five types of rum, pineapple juice, lemon-lime soda and grenadine and topped with a cube of dry ice. It has been the club’s signature cocktail since it opened in 1997.
The Rio welcomed its first guests Jan. 15, 1990. Eighty employees who have worked at the hotel since opening day will be honored at Wednesday’s celebration.
