New Circa Resort & Casino to open in downtown Las Vegas in 2020
Las Vegas’ newest resorts will be opening in downtown, not on the Strip. Circa Resort & Casino will tower over the Fremont Street Experience when the 44-story hotel opens next year. Also, the Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino will add a third tower, bringing an additional 495 rooms.
An entire city block has been razed to make way for Circa, which started work last year. When it opens in December 2020, Circa will become the first new build in downtown Vegas in 40 years.
Owners Derek and Greg Stevens, who operate the D Las Vegas, also on Fremont Street, revealed the resort’s name and some of its features last Thursday.
The Circa will have 777 guest rooms, five restaurants and a two-level casino. It also will include what the Stevens brothers claim will be the largest sports book in Las Vegas.
In a nod to a growing trend, the nine-story parking garage, dubbed “Garage Mahal,†is being built with ride-sharing vehicles in mind.
Longtime Vegas visitors may be delighted to see the return of Vegas Vickie, the neon showgirl sign that will appear in the new resort’s lobby.
Vickie greeted guests along Fremont Street for 20 years before being removed in 2017 to make way for construction.
In a separate project, Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino’s existing two towers will be joined by a third, scheduled to open in mid-2020. The new building have seven floors with 495 additional rooms, bringing the property’s total room count to more than 1,100. Construction on the tower began last week.
The Downtown Grand is located one block north of the Fremont Street Experience along Ogden Avenue. From 1964 to 2006, it was known as the Lady Luck before reopening as the Downtown Grand in 2013.
