Father’s Day: Dad golfs for free at Mammoth Mountain course

If Dad’s a golfer, you may want to hit the road and head to Mammoth Lakes. The Sierra Star Golf Course, opened for the summer season at Mammoth Mountain, sits at 8,000 feet above sea level. Along with fantastic views amid Jeffrey pines and red firs, Dad can score a free round of golf -- when you buy a round for yourself.
The deal: Book a round of golf -- at the $40 junior rate up to $129 for 18 holes -- and Dad receives the freebie. Greens fees include a golf cart, tees, ball markers, bag tags and practice facilities.
When: The offer is good Sunday only.
Details: It’s best to make reservations for a tee time in advance for this deal, though a spokesman says walk-ups will get the discount, too.
