Mother’s Day: Mom does the giving at this Loews Hotels brunch

Here’s a Mother’s Day offer in which Mom gets to give as well as receive. Loews Hotels offers a $20 donation card from DonorsChoose.org for mothers who come to brunch Sunday to mark their special day. There’s also a card for Mom that kids can decorate.
The deal: The hotel brand’s offer is good at the chain’s 17 hotels nationwide, including properties in Santa Monica and near San Diego.
Mom can “spend” her money at Donors.Choose.org to buy books, musical instruments and cameras for schools or help fund a special field trip. Requests made on the website are from teachers who need money for classroom items or special projects. The donation card must be used by June 30.
When: The offer is good for Sunday brunch.
Details: Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel [1700 Ocean Ave.; (310) 458-6700] will host a Champagne brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday with omelets, waffles, sushi and raw-bar selections, pasta and carving stations and desserts. The price is $75 for adults, $37 for children 11 and younger; tax not included.
Loews Coronado Bay Resort [4000 Loews Coronado Bay Road, Coronado; (619) 424-4000] will host a Champagne brunch in its restaurant Mistral from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (two seatings). Assorted shellfish and seafood, prime rib, charcuterie and desserts are on the menu. The price is $75 for adults, $35 for children 3 to 12; tax not included.
