Sure, Arthur Frommer will be at the Los Angeles Times Travel Show this weekend, as well as popular travel show stalwart Rick Steves. Flying under the radar, so to speak, is TSA spokesman Nico Melendez, who will appear Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Los Angeles Times Pavilion (not stage), at the L.A. Convention Center.
Melendez, who has not been listed on any of the schedules, will appear with Los Angeles Times travel staffer Chris Erskine during a session on navigating Southern California airports.
The TSA official has an interesting background. He spent 11 months as a reservist in Afghanistan, where he worked with the U.S. Navy. In his appearance Sunday, he will discuss some of the TSA’s controversial policies and the reasons behind them. The public will get a chance to ask questions at the end of the 45-minute session.
