Trattoria Neapolis, a Cal-Italian restaurant on Pasadena’s South Lake Avenue is offering a special menu and drink in honor of Stanford’s appearance in the Rose Bowl. The Cardinal Cooler is made with hibiscus syrup, rose water, vodka and lemon, and runs $12. Bet you couldn’t get a Badger fan to drink that . . . . Look for LAX in flowers during this year’s Rose Parade. More than 7,000 roses and nearly 5,000 carnations will adorn a float created to replicate the new $1.5-billion Tom Bradley International Terminal opening in 2013 . . . . Pasadena has an active restaurant scene, but the best morning meal in town is still the $5.80 breakfast burrito at Lucky Boy Drive-In, a favorite post-party meal for college-age kids; 640 S. Arroyo Parkway . . . . Another affordable option for the college set: The $6.49 pastrami burger (called the Tops Special) at the Original Tops, 3838 E. Colorado . . . . Mountain High’s East Resort officially opened Wednesday. Goldrush trail offers good coverage, and all beginner runs at both the top and bottom are open . . . . With storms hitting much of the country, Angie’s List urges consumers to take cell photos of their vehicles before hiring a tow truck to pull them from a ditch. That way, the company says, drivers have proof of damage should the tow outfit harm the vehicle . . . . Barbados, Cape Verde and Costa Rica top Ethical Traveler’s annual survey of the world’s most ethical tourism destinations. On the less-ethical front, airline staffs and wheelchair service providers at LAX report increasing numbers of bogus or inappropriate requests from able-bodied passengers for wheelchair assistance. At LAX, airlines provide wheelchair service to more than 460,000 individuals annually. In 2011, wheelchair providers estimate that 15%, or about 69,000, requests (an average 190 requests daily) were “bogus” or inappropriate . . . . U.S. passenger airlines employed 384,310 workers in October 2012, 1.3% fewer than a year before, the Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics reports. . . . Oxnard celebrates its Restaurant Week Jan. 21-31, with 18 participating restaurants.
