California: Yoga pairs with wine at Claremont’s Hotel Casa 425
Hotel Casa 425 in Claremont offers a retreat from holiday stress and scrambling: a free yoga class followed by a wine party. The point is to unwind a bit, on a mat or with a glass.
The deal: Treat yourself to a free hourlong class of Vinyasa yoga, also called flow yoga. Nicole Schwander Riel of Claremont Yoga leads the session in which postures and breathing are performed quickly, making this technique aerobic as well as relaxing. After the class, the wine flows, starting at $5 a glass.
The hotel, which opened in 2007, has 28 rooms built around a courtyard that doubles as an outdoor lounge. Rooms run from $195 to $400 a night, the website says. (View photos of the hotel.)
When: The free class starts at 3:30 p.m Sunday; bring a yoga mat and arrive about 15 minutes early. The wine tasting runs from 4-7 p.m.
Details: Add an element of giving to the day by bringing a nonperishable food item that will be donated to the needy.
