Tropical Storm Isaac: Airlines cancel all New Orleans flights

Tropical Storm Isaac, which moved across the Caribbean to the west coast of Florida over the weekend, prompted airlines to cancel flights to and from New Orleans scheduled for Tuesday. The storm is expected to spin into a Category 1 hurricane as it heads toward the city and the Gulf on Tuesday evening.

“All airlines that serve the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport will cease operation at the end of their schedule today,” the airport’s website said Monday. “There are no flights scheduled for Tuesday.” Travelers were instructed to contact their airline for more information and to reschedule.

American Airlines, Southwest and United all suspended operations Monday over the anticipated arrival of Isaac, the Associated Press reports. United canceled flights for Wednesday as well. Each airline has posted procedures for changing or canceling tickets on their websites without being charged a fee.
