Dutch West Indies: Kick back for less in Caribbean’s Sint Maarten

If you love the white sandy beaches of the Caribbean, Sint Maarten is well worth a stop, even if you’re heading elsewhere in the Dutch West Indies. I rested up there after an action-packed dive vacation on Saba, which doesn’t have sandy beaches. I kicked back for a couple of days at the Westin St. Maarten, Dawn Beach Resort & Spa before heading home in July.
The Westin St. Maarten has a “You’re Getting Warmer” fall special. Rates through Oct. 31 start at $179 a night and from Nov. 1-Dec. 11, the rate starts at $199 a night. Enter offer code FLLSPT.
The hotel, about 10 miles from the airport, is at the edge of the Dutch Sint Maarten, so you can easily walk or catch a taxi to explore the French side, where it’s called Saint-Martin.
