L.A. and San Diego: Hotel Palomar deal starts with 10,000 steps
I like to walk, so a hotel deal that rewards me for what I’d be doing anyway ranks high on my list. In this deal, Hotel Palomar Los Angeles and Hotel Palomar San Diego give guests a pedometer and a walking map upon arrival. Those who walk at least 10,000 steps in a day, roughly five miles, receive half off a future stay.
The deal: The Walk This Way Package rewards step-aholics with up to three nights at 50% off the best available rate for a future stay at either hotel. It also comes with a $20 food and beverage credit and a goody bag with the pedometer, map, bottled water, an energy bar and foot lotion. Package prices start at $220 a night, plus tax.
When: The 10,000-step offer is good for stays through Dec. 30. The future-stay reward can be used until Dec. 30, 2012.
Tested: I found availability at the L.A. location (10740 Wilshire Blvd. in Westwood) for Nov. 25 and 26 for $220 a night, plus tax. The best available rate for the same room on the same nights is $20 less, but the hotel credit easily makes up for the difference.
I like the idea of getting half off a future stay at these Kimpton hotels. If you never wind up exercising your option, however, you’ll still come out ahead healthwise.
