Special to the Los Angeles Times

Visitors to Jalama Beach on California‘s rugged Santa Barbara County coastline between Point Arguello and Point Conception have a new option just in time for summer trips: overnight accommodations.

Steps from the beach, seven new ocean-view cabins welcome guests at the isolated county park, 20 winding miles south of Lompoc.

Units sleep up to six in rooms furnished with queen, bunk and sofa beds but without bedsheets, pillows, blankets or towels. Each kitchen is equipped with a hot plate, convection oven, refrigerator and freezer, cookware, dinnerware and flatware.

Until Sept. 30, rates range from $150 to $200 on weekends (Fridays and Saturdays) and holidays, and from $100 to $150 during the week. They drop by $20 to $50 for stays between Oct. 1 and March 31.

Cachuma Lake, a county park north of Santa Barbara, boasts four new cabins similar in design and amenities for $125 on weekends and holidays and $100 on weekdays until Sept. 30. They cost $100 and $80, respectively, during the off-peak season.

Rates are not subject to additional taxes, but a $20 fee will be charged for each reservation. The rates include park admission for one vehicle (but no trailer or RV).
