New York: Nolitan boutique hotel to open in August with rate discount

Been to NoLita lately? It sounds like a little town in Italy, but it’s really part of Manhattan -- north of Little Italy. And a new boutique hotel named, appropriately, the Nolitan, opens Aug. 1 with rooms starting at $259 nightly for the entire month.
The deal: The Nolitan, at 30 Kenmare St., has just 55 rooms. They come with free Wi-Fi, free access to a nearby Equinox gym and free bikes or skateboards to tool around the city. Introductory rates start at $259 plus tax a night, according to the website. The hotel has a glass-front lobby, a library and a big rooftop deck with city views.
When: The introductory offer is good for stays from Aug. 1 to Aug. 31.
Tested: I went to the hotel’s website and found availability for a Cityscape room (skyline views) with a queen bed for $259 plus tax a night Aug. 19 and 20.
As a comparison, I checked weekend rates in September, after the introductory deal expires. The best available rate for the same room was $515 plus tax a night.
Note to dog lovers: This hotel has a pet program that welcomes “Chihuahuas to mastiffs.”
