Working vacation in Ecuador means installing a roof or painting a community center

Install a roof, paint a community center, or help a child learn to do household chores on a weeklong venture in the highlands of Ecuador organized by the nonprofit Tandana Foundation.
Volunteers will spend the mornings in the Andean village of Otavalo at the La Joya School for children with special needs and with indigenous communities on various projects.
In the afternoons, participants can learn more about the region’s culture through hikes to sacred sites and waterfalls, cooking classes, a trip to the famed Otavalo market and visits to craftspeople and traditional healers.
Dates: March 31-April 6
Price: $1,300 per person, double occupancy. $150 single supplement. Includes accommodations, food, transportation and planned activities. International airfare not included.
