Artwork is a great gift — for yourself or someone you love — but bringing it home can be a hassle. Now a group of Kauai artists is making it easy for you to bring home the goods.

Thirty-seven artists, all members of the Kauai Society of Artists, are participating in the Small Works Show at the society’s gallery in the Kukui Grove Shopping Center in Lihue.

Nearly 130 pieces — a mix of sculptures, paintings and photography — are for sale.

“They’re easy holiday gifts for visitors to carry,†Katy Zeidner, the group’s vice president, told me.

In keeping with the small theme, no piece can be more than 16 inches in any direction — smaller than the length of most carry-on bags. The works are intended to capture the essence of Hawaii.

Among the works on display:

“Bougainvillea Cottage,†an oil painting (above) in a vintage frame by Robin McCoy ($300).

“Hopeful,†a pen-and-ink watercolor of a little girl by Cynthia Moore ($225).

“Tangerine Peel,†a glazed porcelain piece by Licia McDonald ($400).

The gallery is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and until 9 p.m. on Friday. The show continues through Jan. 8.
