Flexible fliers can save big bucks this month on inter-island standby flights in Hawaii.
Mokulele Airlines is offering $30 standby fares through the end of April. Only certain flights are included, and would-be passengers need to check the airline’s Twitter account to find the deals.
A tweet posted early Monday shared this bargain: “Aloha Everyone. Flight#2008 is wide open from Honolulu to Maui (HNL-OGG)8:35AM 9:35AM https://goo.gl/rVEjdN #islandhop standby starting$30.”
That’s a big savings over the $103.60 fare on Mokulele’s website. An 8:51 a.m. departure on Hawaiian Airlines was priced at $99.
Mokulele serves 10 airports on the islands of Hawaii, Lanai, Maui, Molokai and Oahu.
A caution: It’s unlikely that groups such as a family of four will be able to take advantage of these last-minute deals; Mokulele flies nine-seat Cessnas.
Complete conditions can be found on the Mokulele Airlines Facebook page.
