While you’ve been watching Alyssa Milano on TV shows from “Who’s the Boss?†to “Mistresses,†she’s been busy -- as a UNICEF ambassador witnessing the hardship of life in such places as Angola, India and Kosovo in the past decade.

You can meet the actress and hear about her philanthropic travels at 3 p.m. Jan. 18 at the L.A. Times Travel Show. Milano joins keynote speakers Arthur Frommer, Adam Richman and Henry Rollins at the two-day event, which includes dozens of travel experts who can help you plan your next travel trip or advise you on how to travel safely.

Milano, mom to a 2-year-old son named Milo, is busy these days shuttling between L.A. and New York City for work. In a recent phone interview, I asked her what five items she never leaves home without. Here they are, in no particular order (and one of them will make you go “aww.â€).

--â€A pair of Rag & Bone skinny jeans; they can be dressed up or down.â€

--A pair of Frye boots.

--Aquaphor lip balm.

--An iPad, which is a necessity, Milano says. “If I have to read a script or if I’m reading a book...or if Milo needs to be entertained, there are kiddie apps.â€

--A pair of her dad’s Calvin Klein pajamas. “I wore them when I was pregnant with Milo, and I wear them four nights a week.â€
