Ring in the Fourth of July holiday weekend on Catalina Island with fireworks and two special events: a six-hour music festival on July 4, and the 50th anniversary screening of the Beatles’ film “A Hard Day’s Night†on July 6.

The events, sponsored by the Catalina Island Museum, will be held at the Casino, Avalon’s iconic circular theater.

The six-hour Fourth of July Music Festival will kick off at 4 p.m. Friday at Casino Point and will feature the American sounds of Cajun and zydeco, with fireworks planned for a break in the show at 9 p.m.

“Live musical entertainment is a huge part of Avalon’s rich history and culture,†said Michael De Marsche, the museum’s executive director. “The museum is proud to continue this long-lasting tradition.â€

Headlining the show will be the Mudbugs Cajun & Zydeco Band, which mixes its two main sounds with Swamp Pop and Rockabilly tunes. Two local bands will also appear. Doors open at 3 p.m. Tickets: $8, museum members, $10, general admission. Info: (310) 510-2414.

The Beatles’ film, which debuted a half a century ago, will be screened at 7 p.m. July 6 at the Casino Theatre. Immediately after it, Pattie Boyd, formerly married to Beatle George Harrison and singer Eric Clapton, will share memories of acting in the film, where she met Harrison on the set.

Boyd, then a popular model in London, was hired to play a small role in the movie.

Audience members will have a question and answer period with Boyd, whose book “Wonderful Tonight: George Harrison, Eric Clapton and Me†was on the New York Times bestseller list in 2007.
