Las Vegas: Comedian George Wallace to end 10-year run on the Strip

Comedian George Wallace is about to end his 10-year run on the Las Vegas Strip. He has announced that his show will go dark later this month.
Wallace, who celebrated his show’s 10th anniversary during a star-studded performance in March, said his last 10 p.m. show at the Flamingo will be April 26.
“I’ve been headlining longer than any other African American comedian, and that includes Redd Foxx and Sammy Davis Jr.,” he said.
“[Jerry] Seinfeld wants me to go back on the road with him,” Wallace said of his longtime friend. “There are so many things to do. It’s time to get into something new.”
Wallace suffered an injury to his Achilles tendon during a performance at a private party in 2007 at the Bellagio.
Wallace sued the Bellagio, claiming the resort and its employees were responsible for his injury. A Las Vegas jury hearing the case awarded him $1.3 million on April 8.
After entertaining U.S. troops overseas this week, Wallace is scheduled to return to Las Vegas for his final five shows April 22-26.
