California (and beyond): July 4 fireworks show spots
Looking for a show? Here’s is a sampling of July 4 fireworks displays in some of our traditional summer vacation spots, ranging from cozy mountain retreats to the bangy urban pleasures of Las Vegas:
A full weekend of family festivities is highlighted by the annual fireworks shows in the plaza at Mammoth and at Crowley Lake, just outside of town.
Time: July 3-5, fireworks start July 4 at 9 p.m. both in the village and at Crowley Lake.
Cost: Free
Spectators will see 30 minutes of nonstop fireworks over Big Bear Lake in one of the best shows around. Spend the earlier part of the day riding the scenic sky chair at Snow Summit or cool off with a dip in the lake.
Date: July 4, fireworks start at 8:45 p.m.
Cost: Free
The Napa County Fair & Fireworks in Calistoga offers shows on July 3 and 4. Admission includes rides, attractions and live music.
Time: After dark
Cost: Adults admission from $20; children 6-12, $15; ages 5 and under free
Vegas does fireworks better than almost anyplace. Many hotels around town have their own shows. Here are a few of our top suggestions:
Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower
The hotel will be launching fireworks at 9 p.m. on July 4.
The sky above Mandalay Bay Beach will light up July 3 and 4, with live music before each show. Doors open at 8 p.m. and performances start at 9 p.m.
