Reader recommendation: Cup of joe and nickel slots in old Vegas style
NEVADA
My family’s find on our recent trip to Las Vegas: Jerry’s is a coffee shop and casino in the throwback style. Tasty breakfast: I ordered bacon and eggs, hash browns and toast for about $6. I think my sister got the winning plate … about $9 for her steak and eggs. It was the tastiest piece of meat, garlic-y and grilled just right. Now here’s the topper. We went into the casino to spend a few dollars, and I saw the old-style 5-cent machines with cherries. I was down about $2 when I hit triple 7: $20 paid in nickels, real nickels with all the noise and all. We are definitely going back for the grub and for the nickels!
