Reader recommendation: L’Esplanade Hotel in Domme, France
Last May, I spent several nights at the enchanting L’Esplanade Hôtel in the medieval town of Domme. Our room had a stunning 180-degree view of the Dordogne valley, as did the restaurant offering Périgord specialties prepared by the master chef-husband in this family establishment. Domme is within easy reach of beguiling Beynac and crowded Sarlat, but it has its own charm high on its hilltop.
L’Esplanade Hôtel & Restaurant, 2 Rue Pontcarral, Domme; 011-33-5-53-28-31-41, www.esplanade-perigord.com. Rooms from about $90 to $180 a night, depending on the season.
